Mobile Data Visualization

An interesting article about patient information on your PDA.

How useful would it be to be able to pull up any patients file right while you're talking to them? You could eliminate the need to store patient files on-site at the med clinics altogether...

You wouldn't need to keep all patient data on your pda all the time, it would be sufficient to carry the files of recent patients, and for that day/week. It would be fantastic if you could set up something with the receptionists/hospital computers to send each doctor their patients files for each day/week or as they went to visit them.

Eventually it might also be possible to use something like the health card barcode to bring up their own files in walk-in clinics or hospitals.

Macintosh (I think) developed a webcamera that can read barcodes on books already.(Unfortunately I cannot recall where I gleaned this information from.)
